Golf Shop Professionals

Dan Russell

Head Golf Professional, PGA Class A
Dan has worked at FRCC since 1987. He has been a Class A PGA Professional since 1997 and holds the course record of 62 at FRCC. As Head Professional, Dan is responsible for the tournament calendar, golf instruction and day-to-day operations.

Tag Merritt

Golf Professional Emeritus, PGA Class A
Tag Merritt was the Director of Golf at FRCC from 1984 to 2009. Prior to FRCC, Tag worked as the Head Golf Professional at De Anza Country Club, at Meridian Valley Country Club and at Sahalee Country Club in Seattle. Mr. Merritt has been recognized as one of the Top 50 teaching professionals in California.

Andree Martin

LPGA Professional, Director of Golf Instruction
Andree was born and raised in Maine. After graduating from the University of South Florida, Tampa, she worked in the golf business for Ping and Titleist. Andree began teaching juniors in Los Angeles and Denver, and then split her time teaching in Utah and North Carolina. She was named one of the Top 50 Teachers in the U.S. by Golf for Women magazine.

Grant Strobel

Assistant Golf Professional, PGA Class A
Grant earned his B.S. in Business Management at San Jose State. Since 2003, he has since been an Assistant Professional at Steele Canyon Golf Club, Stone Ridge Country Club and Carlton Oaks Golf Club. Grant is an active member of the SCPGA San Diego Chapter and competes regularly.

Mike Griffin

Assistant Golf Professional, PGA Class A
Mike worked in all facets of golf course and golf shop operations at Mt. Woodson Golf Club before becoming an Assistant Golf Professional at La Costa Golf Club. He is a competent teacher, who earned his Class A PGA Professional certification in 2012.

Brian Darrock

Golf Course Superintendent
Brian was born in La Jolla. He began working at Fairbanks Ranch Country Club in 1983 and was promoted to Assistant Superintendent in 1984. He went to the University of Riverside to become certified in Horticulture and Turfgrass and was promoted to Golf Course Superintendent in 1989. He is a Class A Superintendent and is a past president of the San Diego Golf Course Superintendents Association.

Paul Brown

Assistant Course Superintendent
Paul was born in San Diego and has been in the golf industry since 1998. He has worked at several golf courses across San Diego and began working at Fairbanks Ranch Country Club in 2008.
